MyCougarCampus

What is MyCougarCampus?
MyCougarCampus is the College of Charleston's brand of the software program, FAMIS, owned by Accruent, Inc. FAMIS is an enterprise facility management program that was identified during the early stages of the BATTERY Project as a third-party solution to meet the various space planning and management needs. There are four major business areas: Real Estate, Space Management, Capital Projects, and Maintenance Management. Each area represents technology-based solutions to help support operational, tactical, and strategic work processes.

How will it benefit the College?
FAMIS will create a unified building and room inventory database. As with other BATTERY Project programs, FAMIS will allow staff members to streamline daily operations while realizing efficiencies. Also, departments will have the opportunity to review current business processes and procedures or formalize current practices. Currently, space data is maintained primarily through a homegrown system with other users maintaining their own data files for specific department needs. FAMIS will meet the College’s need for such things as state reporting requirements, space planning and management, maintenance (i.e. work orders), emergency management, financial audits, and capital projects.

What are the different modules?
The modules include: Maintenance Management (with Self-Service), Inventory Control, Key Control, Utility Management, Facility Assessments, Space Management (with AutoCAD interface), and Capital Projects. Many of the modules will integrate with Banner Finance and HR with plans to develop interfaces for SciQuest and Resource 25 as well reporting and data storage programs used by other products.

Who will it affect?

MyCougarCampus is one of the larger implementations of the BATTERY Project. It is also the final major implementation. On a day-to-day basis, the affected departments include: Physical Plant, Business Affairs, Facilities Planning, Controller’s Office, Business & Auxiliary Services, Public Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Information Technology, Institutional Research, Residential Life & Housing, Registrar’s Office, and Procurement. Ultimately, MyCougarCampus will affect every member of the campus community as it will be the way in which work orders are submitted. As you can see, it is quite an extensive system.

How long will the implementation take?
The implementation is expected to last approximately two years. The project kicked off August 1, 2011 and is expected to conclude in Fall 2013.
